My relationship with the flute was not love at first sight.  After the piano and oboe, then failure to make a sound on my first flute lesson, I never put the flute down after 18 years.  I took my flute to Las Vegas, Flagstaff, Boston, and now in Denver. Through my experiences in these cities, I have learned the importance of a mind and body connection through training in yoga, Alexander Technique, body mapping, and long arduous hikes.  I believe in the importance of social justice and equal opportunity, spending time volunteering for El Sistema Colorado and teaching flute sectionals at Adams City High School through the educational outreach program of Colorado Wind Ensemble. I also teach private flute and piano lessons at Neighborhood Music Stapleton, Castle Rock Music, and my own studio.

 

I received my Master of Music Degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College and my Bachelor’s Degree in Flute Performance from Northern Arizona University. My teachers include Marco Granados and Emily McKay. I have performed in masterclasses for Trevor Wye, William Bennett, Lorna McGhee, Jennifer Grim, Stephanie Jutt, and Michelle Stanley.

 

Having spent years trained classically in music, ear training, theory, technique of the flute, and piano proficiency, I am now turning my attention to playing music from the heart.  I spent the past few years mostly improvising music, tuning into the moment, viewing myself as a conduit for inspiration, and blurring the lines between audience and performer.

Nothing is Everything is a project featuring experimental, improvisatory, ambient, meditative music (casually known as hardcore spa music), suitable for meditations, yoga classes, and events. Members include Makayla Dooley and Zach Light.

th.e.entanglements is a DJ electronic live instrumental duo with Frederic Lewis, focused on bringing astral sound waves to this plane for the most epic dance parties.
